In the 1840 census she was living with one male 5-10, 2 males 10-15, 2 males 15-20, 1 female 5-10, 1 female 15-20. 1 family member was engaged in agriculture. The 1850 census gives Lucretia Proctor with a tax value of $300. She was living with her daughters Elizabeth and Matilda and sons Jeremiah, a school teacher, and Michael, a laborer. The 1860 census lists her as a "doctoress" with a tax value of $50 and $100. She was living with her daughter, Elizabeth, a milliner.

Family records from Adelle Hayward:"She was a practicing physician, daughter of Dr----Krause, who emigrated to America after his estates has been confiscated, following some supposed umbrage. He had been one of the German Court Physicians." Her daughter's death certificate says she was born in Germany.

Randolph Co., IN Portrait and Biographical RecordMrs. Proctor's father, grandfather of Dr. Jeremiah A., was Dr. Crouse of Kinderhook, New York, and under him she studied medicine. She was constantly employed in practice while in Ohio and Indiana, and gained a wide-spread reputation by having formulated a cure for rabies, and her saving from death may who had been bitten by rabid dogs. She died in 1863.
