Cook (1992): "According to Clarence V. Windsor of Anderson, Indiana there so far has been no documented proof of Isaac's parents. He is assumed to have been born in Maryland, and is buried in the old family graveyard near Windsor's Crossroads in Yadkin Co., N.C., near his wife Nancy Ann Riley. He served in the militia of Montgomery County, Maryland, as a private. His unit was the 3rd Company, Middle Battalion on September 4, 1777, and the 2nd Battalion in July of 1780.
"He married his only wife at Rock Creek Church in Montgomery County, Maryland, March 2, 1779, by the Rev. Joseph Threkel. They came to North Carolina after the Revolutionary War in the spring of 1783, bringing two small children with them, following the Riley parents who came to North Carolina in about 1780.
"...I recently learned from a paper written in the 1950's by Will Denny that Ila Denny came down from Maryland with Isaac Windsor. They were neighbors in what is now Buck Shoals Township in Yadkin Co., NC.
"Church records at Flat Rock Baptist Church, then called 'Petty's Meeting House,' show that Isaac and Nancy Ann attended church there. Their hymn book dated 1803 still exists, and is owned by Bonnie Pardue Clayton...Isaac Windsor was brought before the church one time for ungentlemanly conduct at the schoolhouse, but was given consideration and was found to be in good standing in 1812 along with Daniel Windsor, Nancy Ann Windsor, and Martha (Patsy Windsor). Patsy was excluded from the church union in July 1811 because of giving birth to a female child (Hesa) out of wedlock. She was restored to full membership August 1816. I have heard that the father was a relative.
"A copy of Isaac's will is in Book E3 p 150; Surry Co., NC. The will was made in 1817; probated May 1821."
"He arrived in Surry County, North Carolina (now Yadkin County) in the spring of 1783 from Montgomery County, Maryland. His father-in-law, Ninian Riley, had come to North Carolina about two or three years earlier...According to the Surry County tax records of 1812 Isaac Windsor was one of the largest landowners in the county. [400 acres, no while polls] Four hundred acres of this land was from a North Carolina land grant to Mr. Riley. When he decided to move to Kentucky, Isaac bought the land from him for fifty pounds. Isaac accumulated other land close by...Church records of the Flat Rock Baptist Church at Hamptonville, North Carolina state that Isaac Windsor, his wife and two of his children were in good standing in 1819. This church was known as Petty's Meeting House at that time. (Katie Windsor Thomasson, in Casstevens, 1981)
"He signed the Oath of Fidelity and Support to Maryland on the return of Will Deakins, Jr., dated March 3, 1778...The reason for their leaving Maryland was because of a land grant to Isaac for his service in the Revolution." (Ann Reid Ritchie, in Casstevens, 1981)

The census for Capt. Wright's district taken by William Cook in February of 1786 lists Isaac adjacent to Edward Riley, Ninian Riley, William Alnutt, and Jarrott Riley. There were 1 white male 21-60 and 3 white females. Isaac's will was written 3 Jan 1817. The estate was to go to Nancy Windsor for the rest of her life, then was to be divided among the children. Sons Daniel, Aquilla, Enos, Jessie, and Amos and daughter Dency Messick received 5 shillings apiece. Son Bennet and James received land as well. Personal property went to Bennet, James, Jessie, Amos, Patsy, and Elizabeth. Nancy Windsor, and Daniel and Aquilla Windsor were the executors. The will was proved 15 Mar 1821, and was signed.

He married Nancy Riley (144) (A213), 2 Mar 1779, in Montgomery, MD.
