37. George Matteson[6] Tinker (Clark W., 70) (A38). Born, circa 1838, in
Utica, Oneida Co., NY[49]. Census: 1850, in Berry Twp., Dane Co., WI. Occupation:
Farmer.
George's 1857 marriage record indicated that he was a farmer residing in Roxbury, Dane Co.
Military Records: When he enlisted in 1864, he was 25 years old, 5' 9 1/2" with a dark complexion, grey eyes, and dark hair. He was a farmer then also. The records also say that he deserted at Camp Randall, Madison. He had been appt. Sgt. Apr. 1. He had been paid $60 in bounty and $240 was due. It was his second enlistment. His first enlistment was 19 Jul 1861 at Madison in 1st Reg. Co. A Wisconsin Heavy Artillery. He is described here as age 23, 5' 9 1/2" with blue eyes, dark hair, and light complexion. He was discharged 5 Aug 1862 with a surgeon's certificate of disability. (From Pam Day...Roster Wisc. Vol.)
C.W. Gulliford's Civil War Pension Record: "...Tinker enlisted in Company A 36 Wisconsin volunteer infantry Feb. 29th 1864, deserted May 7th 1864, & my wife never saw him after that."
Lois Marie:"Civil War Pension records indicate he changed his name to Francis M. Sealey."
He married[50] Olive Sara Barcume (38) (A39), 15 Jun 1857, in Lodi,
Columbia Co., WI (registered Dane Co.)[1]. Divorce, 12 Nov 1865, in Sauk Co., WI.
Children:
i. Sarah Jennie[5] Tinker. Born, Nov 1858, in WI[51]. Died, after
1915. Extra 4 in Monroe, Green Co., WI. Census: 1900, in
Maquoketa, Jackson Co., IA. She married John Kozak, son of John
Kozak.
