Obituary: "George Langguth had served the city of St. Peter as councilman the past five years and was instrumental in bringing the Community Hospital, the Municipal Swimming Pool, and other improvements to his home city. He was a member of the local Board of Education for six years from 1925 to 1931 and served the Building & Loan Association for several years. He was secretary at the time of his death and had served as president for two years and as a member of the Board of Directors for ten years or more. He was a member and officer of the St. Peter association for many years and belonged to the Odd Fellows Lodge and to Trinity Lutheran Church and was a member of the Church Board and treasurer for some time.

"George Langguth is perhaps best known as the proprietor of Langguth's Bakery, which he operated for several years until he sold the business to Gerald McCabe last September. At that time he determined to retire and devote his last days to fishing and resting and building up his failing [illeg.]. During his 3 years in business, he built up a concern that was one of the leading industries in St. Peter. He was one of the organizers of the Southern Minnesota bakers association and had the foresight which made him one of the leading business leaders of the community.

"Mr. Langguth started in the bakery business as a delivery boy for Farvers, when they were located in the Clark building...and after 6 months worked as a bakers' helper. Then he worked as a baker for three years and during that time Farver's moved to the store occupied by Adolphson's Shoe Store. As time went on, George Langguth worked at various baking jobs in Sheridan, Wyo., Ackley, Iowa, Janesville, Owatonna, Aitkin, Deerwood, and Park Rapids in this state. Finally, in April 1912, he established Langguth's Ideal Bakery and operated it continuously until last year. He started his business in the Clark Building and after ten years moved to his present location in the Annexstad Building on Park Row.

"George F. Langguth was born in St. Peter, July 2, 1888, the son of Christian and Wilhelmina Hoffman Langguth. He attended public school and was confirmed in 1902 by Dr. I.O. Nothsteen, then pastor of the English Lutheran Church. He continued as a member of that church until his death. He belonged to the Lutheran Brotherhood at the time of his death and served as a member of the church board and treasurer of the congregation.

"April 17, 1912, he was married to Miss Anna Wolf of Faribault at a ceremony performed at that city. The couple came to St. Peter to make their home and engaged in that business which they continued for 3 years, Mrs. Langguth being an able assistant in the up building of that company."

He married Anna Bertha Wolf (10) (A11), 17 Apr 1912, in Faribault, Rice Co., MN.
