106. Gabriel[7] Swaim Jr. (Gabriel Sr., 164) (A124). Born, 4 Dec 1784, in Burlington, NJ[122]. Died, 16 Aug 1842, in Preble, OH. Burial in Elk Mtg., Preble, OH. Occupation: Farmer.

The 1840 census listed Gabriel's household as containing, besides Gabriel, 1 female from 10-15, 1 female from 20-30, and 1 female 40-50. One member was employed in agriculture.

Mullane et al.: Gabriel Swaim, Jr., appeared as a witness to a will of a Job Whitehouse in Burlington Co., NJ, 2 Dec., 1815.

A deed: Thomas K. Stiles and Rebecca his wife of PCO to Gabriel Swaim, Jr. of PCO, $350; 52.32a pt NE 1/4 sec. 2 T4 R3 originally granted to John Ward by patent dated 2-10-1809 and conveyed by him to Henry Garret.

Mullane et al.: "Gabriel, Jr., purchased 52 & 32/100 acres in Gratis Township, located one mile to the north of the future West Elkton."

Gabriel was executor of the estate of Elijah Horner in 1824.

Gilbert, lists 1827-34: Gabriel was on the Preble County Tax Lists (Gratis Twp.) 1827, 1828, 1829, 1830, 1831, 1832, 1833, 1834, under various errant surnames.

The family were members of Elk Monthly Mtg. of Friends (Orthodox) in West Elkton, OH. "The friends appointed on Gabriel Swaim's report, they attended to the appointment to good satisfaction with which this meeting unites and receives him into membership with his children namely Reading W. Swaim, Hariot Swaim, Mary T. Swaim and Antrim M. Swaim."

From the records of the Elk Monthly Meeting of Friends, Preble Co., OH: Gabriel signed marriage certificates for Elijah Talbert & Mary H. Pray 26th Jan 1837; Ira Lane & Hannah Cooper June 7, 1827; Sarah Scott & Thomas Simmons 16 Dec. 1827; Norton D. Hartly & Deborah Jones Apr 2, 1837; Jonas Brown & Sarah Ballard Jul 26, 1838.

Gabriel was mentioned as executor in the will of Nathan Goodwin, but was replaced. He was mentioned as the executor of the will of John Ward dated 1836, but it was recorded Sept. 1849.

Reading W. Swaim acted as Administrator of Gabriel's estate. He paid (among other things) $5 to Elisha Stubbs for a coffin.

iv. Hannah Swaim. Born, 22 Mar 1823[123].

v. Antrim R. Swaim. Born, 14 Oct 1824, in Preble, OH[74]. Died, 6 Feb 1840, in Preble, OH.

vi. Amy Swaim. Born, 15 Apr 1828, in Preble, OH[74]. Census: 1850, in Gratis Twp., Preble Co., OH. She married, first, John Halsey, 22 Mar 1849, in Preble Co., OH. She married, second, Harry Neff, 31 Oct 1854, in Preble Co., OH[1].
