Deeds: "This Indenture made the 29th day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and twenty nine between James Kirkpatrick and Elizabeth his wife Samuel Kirkpatrick and Katherine Kirkpatrick of the one part and Rev Docr George A Baxtor of the other part all of Rockbridge County and the State of Virginia witnesseth that whereas the said James Kirkpatrick and Samuel Kirkpatrick became entitled by the last will and testament of their father John Kirkpatrick Decd to the tract of land on which he the said John Kirkpatrick then lived which will is now of record in the Clerks office of the said County of Rockbridge and the said Katherine Kirkpatrick being the widow and relict of the said John Kirkpatrick became by the said Will entitled is a life estate from the same tract of land now the said James Kirkpatrick and Elizabeth his wife Samuel Kirkpatrick and Katherine Kirkpatrick have this day sold and by these presents do sell and convey to the said George A. Baxter the same tract of land containing two hundred and fifty acres be the same more or less for and in consideration of the sum of twelve hundred dollars to them in hand paid by the same George A Baxter the receipt thereof is hereby acknowledged which tract of land lies on the waters of Buffalo Creek in said County of Rockbridge adjoining the lands of William Hendley Robert Willson other lands of the said George A Baxtor and the lands of John Bouyer being the same tract of which the said John Kirkpatrick died possessed of and is bounded as follows Beginning at two Hickory Grubs supposed on or near Bordens line now McMaths thence S561/2 W two poles to a chestnut oak a corner of Robert Willson's land and an old corner to said Kirkpatrick's land thence with Willson's lines S 68 1/2 W foroty six poles six poles to two dogwoods S13 1/2W one hundred and four poles to a Black Oak and White oak corner to said Willson and likewise corner to the land which the said Baxtor bought of the two heirs of Joseph Patton the same course continued with the lines of the said Land which said Baxtor bought of the heirs of Patton thirty five poles to a Black oak stump and small walnut N78E fourty two poles to two hickories S62E ninety nine poles to two Black oaks growing together N63 1/2E one hundred and thirty three poles croping a Run to three chestnut oaks corner to Hindley and supposed on Bordens line now John Bowyers thence with Bowyer's line N49W one hundred and three poles to opposite Bowyers and Baxtors corner the same course continued one hundred and Eighty nine poles to the Beginning, to have and to hold the said tract of land with all and singular its appurtenances improvements and advancements to the said George A Baxtor his Heirs and assigns for Ever and the said James Kirkpatrick and Elizabeth his wife Samuel Kirkpatrick and Katherine Kirkpatrick do hereby covenant and agree that the title to the same they will for Ever warrant and defend free from the Claim of them and their hiers and of all persons whatsoever in witness where of the said James Kirkpatrick and Elizabeth his wife Samuel Kirkpatrick and Katherine Kirkpatrick have here unto subscribed their names and affixed their seals the day and year above written James Kirkpatrick/ Elizabeth (her mark +) Kirkpatrick/Samuel Kirkpatrick/Catherioine (her mark g) Kirkpatrick."
