"The Presto" (7 Nov 1912): "...journeying through from Northern States, came Andrew Gennett, a young man who had also determined to forsake the comforts of seaport communities for a life in the wonderful west. In 1836, after having become established as a merchant of Nashville, he was married to a Miss Martha Estes, youngest daughter of Henson Estes. By 1848, young Gennett had developed an organization of six stores in many respects quite similar to modern methods of commerce. Overwork broke his health, his death occurring in 1858 leaving a large estate in real and personal property."
He is buried in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Nashville. (E. Conrad)
