Hazel Reid Gennett: "One other experience which stands out in my mind was when I was about 7 or 8 years old. I remember I coaxed my mother so hard that she finally gave me permission to accompany my grandfather Reid home to spend Saturday night and then come home with mother and father who were intending to visit my grandparents on Sunday. The only condition on which I was allowed to go, was that my sister chaperon me. I do not remember many of my visits to my father's home, for most of our happy times were spent with my mother's people which seems to be the general rule among families even to this day."
